Robe to Victor Harbour

The very attractive town of Robe is just up the road from Nora Creiner and had us salivating after reading all the delicious looking menus in the many restaurants. Again, we managed to find a top free camp spot at a lookout.

Further up the coast is the Coorong NP which promised great fishing. Sadly it seems we were there at the wrong time. One of the many walks in the Coorong is The Nature Trail which features salt lakes, red samphire and old fences made of sticks.

Further up the coast, we enjoyed some lovely wine tasting at Langhorne Creek and bought some delicious fortified wine. Goolwa boat ramp was our next 'au naturale' camp site. Fishing was again without success, despite wind and rain and Russ going out into deep water to cast out on the famous salmon coast.

Cradle of Hills Winery at McLaren Vale was another lovely wine tasting. The owner explained how they picked by hand, sorted, crushed by hand and ensured the whole process was carefully and lovingly carried out on site without machinery or added chemicals. She told us how her husband was cycling through Switzerland and found a delicious wine. He loved the combination of Grenache, Mourvedre and Shiraz so much that he crafted such a wine at home and called it Route de Bonheur (path to happiness) after his fun winey cycle in Europe. I bought a bottle and will give it away and bore someone with the story!!

The day finished off with more 'to die for' local produce... the tastiest strawberries ever, juicy garlic and award winning Alexandrina cheese and yoghurt.

Victor Harbour was another very attractive town – we nearly stayed at the lookout at The Bluff but the presence of a very amorous couple in a car, made us wonder if we would be visited by lots of young romantic couples throughout the night..so we moved on.
