Daintree NP
After waiting for about an hour we got onto the Daintree Ferry and then arrived at Lync Haven Van Park for a few days of rainforest indulgence.
We cycled 14k return trip, to Jindalba one of the boardwalks
in Daintree NP and chose the longer muddy track. I regretted not wearing my
walking boots, like Russ advised. The nearby Discovery Centre was well worth
the $35 each and was very well designed and executed with great food and
excellent friendly service. Their tower enabled us to see the top and middle of
the rainforest canopy.
On the way back we sampled both ice creameries – hard to
say which was better but the non biodynamic one had great flavous – 1 cup with
soursop (like lemonade), jackfruit (like banana), passionfruit and wattleseed
and again, excellent service. They grown their own fruit and had loads of
tropical fruit we’d never heard of. On local advice we ventured up to Noah’s
Beach for some fishing, but no go. We did manage to see some more beautiful
creeks and stopped to photograph them on single lane bridges.
It must be
difficult to make a business work in the Daintree area, because 2 resorts were
for sale one for only $400k, according to locals.
