Wallaman Falls and Ingham

Reluctantly we left Hull Heads and decided not to continue annoying the real estate agent. We pulled off the road at Cardwell to admire the ocean. The blue sky and calm weather combined to make a glassed out effect on the ocean.

We set up camp behind the Ingham Info centre and were about to leave for Wallaman Falls but were asked to help repair an awning on a bus. It took about 1.5 hours and Russ got pretty hot in the sun but he repaired it enough for the group to continue on their travels.

We drove the 51k along a very steep and winding road (bitumen thankfully) to Wallaman Falls. Half way up the winding part was a van parked on the side - poor things must have been very stressed with a van on this road. There's a 2km steep walk to the actual falls but a local told us that you need to start this by 7am to avoid doing the steep up and down in the heat.

Russ took photos of the Jacanas in the wetlands behind the Ingham Info Centre

Metallic Startlings at the Hull Heads Campground. They are famous for flying in at dusk at Chili Beach but as we weren't there at that time of day, I was pleased to see them here. There were about 20 of them in about 10 nests, all very busy and noisy.

One last photo of the Hull River just before it hits the ocean
